India grants dolphins and whales "Non-Human" personhood

About This Project

Based on “overwhelming scientific evidence,” India makes an unprecedented move forward in animal rights and becomes the largest country in the world to grant dolphins and whales “Non-Human” personhood, effectively making it illegal for the first time in the countries recorded history to own a dolphin. Puja Mitra headed the campaign for dolphin rights and speaks to Heather McElhatton about her next animal campaign.
